| Asia: In this lesson, you'll learn how to use a sentence pattern for discussing one's habits. |
| PATTERN |
| Asia: For example, |
| Asia: "I go to church every Sunday." |
| Daniele: (Io) vado in chiesa ogni domenica. |
| Daniele: [slow] (Io) vado in chiesa ogni domenica. |
| Asia: The pattern for discussing one's habits has 4 elements. First, the pronoun, in this case "I." |
| Daniele: (Io). |
| Asia: Second, the verb, in this case "go" conjugated in the first person singular, in the present indicative form. |
| Daniele: vado. |
| Asia: Third, a phrase, in this case "to church." |
| Daniele: in chiesa. |
| Asia: And last, an adverb of time, in this case "every Sunday." |
| Daniele: ogni domenica.. |
| Asia: Altogether, we have.. "I go to church every Sunday." |
| Daniele: (Io) vado in chiesa ogni domenica. [slow] (Io) vado in chiesa ogni domenica. [normal] (Io) vado in chiesa ogni domenica. |
| Asia: In Italian, the pronoun can be omitted if it is obvious to whom you are referring. If you want to emphasize, you can include the pronoun at the beginning of the sentence. Then comes the verb in the first person singular in the present indicative tense. It can be followed by a noun or phrase. The adverb of time... |

| Asia: meaning ”every” is always followed by a singular noun. Note that the days of the week in Italian are not capitalized. |
| Daniele: (Io) vado in chiesa ogni domenica. |
| Asia: So remember that the subject pronoun can be omitted. The verb is conjugated in the first person singular in the present tense form and it is often followed by a prepositional sentence or an object. The adverb of time is at the end of the sentence. |
| Asia: Here is another example meaning, "I play soccer every Saturday." First, the pronoun, in this case "I." |

| Asia: Second, the verb, in this case "play" conjugated in the first person singular, in the present indicative form. |
| Daniele: gioco. |
| Asia: Third, a noun, in this case "soccer." |
| Daniele: a calcio . |
| Asia: And last, an adverb of time, in this case "every Saturday." |
| Daniele: ogni sabato.. |
| Asia: Altogether we have.. |
| Daniele: Gioco a calcio ogni sabato. [slow] Gioco a calcio ogni sabato. [normal] Gioco a calcio ogni sabato. |

| Asia: How do you say - "I go to the park every day."? To give you a hint, " every day" is.. |
