Asia: In this lesson, you'll learn how to use a sentence pattern for describing someone's emotions or feelings. |
PATTERN |
Asia: For example, "You are in love." |
Daniele: Sei innamorato. |
Daniele: [slow] Sei innamorato. |
Asia: The pattern for describing someone's emotions or feelings has 2 elements. First, the second person singular of the verb "to be." |
Daniele: Sei. |
Asia: Last, an adjective, in this case "in love." |
Daniele: innamorato. |
Asia: Altogether, we have, "You are in love." |
Daniele: Sei innamorato. [slow] Sei innamorato. [normal] Sei innamorato. |
Asia: Start with the verb “to be” |
Daniele: Essere |
Asia: conjugated in the second person singular in the present tense, “you are” |
Daniele: sei. |
Asia: This is followed by an adjective, either in masculine or feminine form according to the person being described. |
Daniele: Sei innamorato. |
Asia: So remember, to describe someone's emotions or feelings, start with “you are” |
Daniele: sei |
Asia: followed by an adjective that agrees with the gender of the person you’re describing. |
Asia: Here's another example meaning, "You are sad." First, second person singular of the verb "to be." |
Daniele: Sei. |
Asia: Next, an adjective, in this case "sad." |
Daniele: triste. |
Asia: Altogether we have... |
