Hi everyone, I'm Felice Angelini!
Ciao a tutti! Sono Felice Angelini
Welcome to another Italian whiteboard lesson!
In this lesson, you'll learn how to give simple directions in Italian.
Let's get started!
Let's look at the dialogue.
A student is asking for directions to get to the library.
While listening to the dialogue, I want you to focus on the response and how the directions are given.
Ready?
Dove è la biblioteca?
La biblioteca è lì!
Ok one more time, a bit slower.
Dov'è la biblioteca?
La biblioteca è lì.
Good.
Now let's go over the dialogue line by line.
The question: Dov'è la biblioteca?
Dov'è means where is, then the place.
In Italian the library is a feminine singular noun, so we use LA, la biblioteca.
It is a question so the intonation is increasing.
Dov'è la biblioteca?
Where is the library?
And the answer.
La biblioteca, the library, è, is.
Did you notice this position is switch noun and verb.
Finished?
The location.
Lì, lì, there.
La biblioteca è lì.
It's very simple.

Davanti alla scuola.
Dietro alla biblioteca.
Dentro la biblioteca.
Qui.
Place è location.
OK.
